I’ve encountered the same. I think it’s the same sort of thing where some men don’t like to be called “Mr. —-” because “Mr. --- is my dad”. Seems like an arrested development thing to me.

I’ve gotten in trouble for using “ma’am” before because apparently it makes some women feel old. I’ve never been sure what to do with that, since “ma’am”, like “sir”, is supposed to be a term of general respect for any adult person, not just for the old people. It’s just good manners.
My eyes are bleeding from looking at that “art”.
Peter Parker graduated from high school in Amazing Spider-Man #28 in 1965, a little over three years after he debuted. In the grand scheme of comics history, he was only in high school for a brief moment.
And this is why saves are a meaningless stat.
It’s not just about shaming the offending tweeter. There is a lesson for everyone in this, especially teenage white boys.
That’s not exactly what he did and it’s not why he’s being called good and wise.
The Democrats are viewed as failures by their base and the Democratic Socialists have grown stronger and I am surprised that old school capitalist pig Dems haven’t decided yet to lie and pretend to support them so they can be exploited in a similar fashion.
They’ll still be making way more than they need to live. They can suck it up. They’re not going to garner much sympathy.
Also, they won’t have any solidarity against it. There are many doctors in the US who are aware that the current predatory system is ultimately unsustainable, and that universal health care is inevitable.
If the alternative is torches and pitchforks, yes they will.
That will have an effect on the economy. The collapse of the health insurance industry will mean an awful lot of lost jobs (they can’t all just be shifted to administering the new coverage, as a big part of the savings involves eliminating them). Don’t get me wrong - it’s worth it. But it will have repercussions.
They went on strike when universal health care came to where I live in 1962. Some left for other places and never came back. The public will not support them, because the public wants universal health care. They’ll make a ruckus and then give in. Or they can move to Somalia and keep working in for-profit health care.…
I’m not sure how it was ever possible to view it any other way.
I think it was always meant to be that. Walk around by yourself and look at the weird, colorful stuff you find.
It’s taken decades of conservative propaganda to convince people that all the public spending that was helping them and that built America from an isolated backwater to the wealthiest and most powerful nation in history was actually a bad thing. The Democrats have utterly failed to defend their own policy positions,…
If you take away resources from people who are less able than you to be independent and self-reliant, then yes, you are selfish.
What the auto makers need to understand is that even if Trump wins this and rolls back emissions standards, it’s only a temporary victory. Sooner or later, even stricter emissions standards will be enacted, which will disrupt their business even more if they’re trying to move in the other direction. It’s in their own…
I have always wanted them to do more with Ravnica than just release more Magic sets. The setting is easily their best, and it’s wasted on MTG where hardly anyone really cares about that stuff. I hope that this is the beginning of a much larger push into Ravnica-related spinoffs (more novels, more D&D stuff, maybe even…
“!=” comes from programming languages where “!” is used to negate a statement. For example, to check if the number of apples is not equal to zero, you write a statement like “if (numberOfApples != 0)”. This usage seeped into internet commenting a long time ago.
