I owned it’s upscale twin, a Lincoln MKT.  Would buy again.  Ecoboost 3.5 is awesome.  Definitely would fall in the budget too.

Yeah, if the manual is a nice-to-have and not a showstopper, I say at least drive a TourX. A serious wagon for sure

I just passed 50,000 miles on mine and still love it. Kinda wish I had gotten the 2.4L but it still turns close to 40 mpg on the highway so it’s hard to complain. Plus with a roof box it’s a roadtrip machine

The 4th gen Legacy seems like an awfully good answer.

How about a Ford Flex? You can find a used AWD Ecoboost version in your price range. You give up the manual, but you get all the space you could ever need and you can’t convince me that these aren’t the true spiritual successors to the woody surf wagons.
