ahaha yeah if it’s one thing that’s ruining America, it’s the public workers with their fantastic pensions.

You’ve chosen a good one this week, Jason. Until I read your article, I had completely forgotten that this vehicle had existed under either nameplate.

Unless you understand that Sweden can do a 10 mile stretch of highway in a day and it takes our companies 2 years. It’s been discussed before but it’s just companies milking the government for profits instead of holding the companies accountable to not rape the wallets of citizens

The issue isn’t tax money it’s with the road repair companies themselves. Sweden can do a 10 mile stretch of highway in a day. It takes us 2 years. That speaks volumes on the ineptitude of our nation, the government and the businesses hired by our government

Wouldn’t it be great if people could donate a tiny bit of their money, and pool it together to pay for road maintenance? I bet a lot of shit could get done that way.

Yet those same people are perfectly fine with the military spending billions on stuff that doesn’t work as well as the old stuff that the new stuff is replacing.

It’s a running joke, but our government employees are paid less and do just as much work as government employees of other developed countries. The main reason we have such a large government workforce is because our country insists on spending so much money on defense.

I think in most cases a higher tax rate translates to higher tax revenue.

Maybe stop giving Aid to countries like Israel and lowering our defense budget. Spend more on infrastructure and education.

30 minutes or we fill a pothole with your pizza

I see that a lot, but no one ever manages to tell me how exactly they want their money more wisely spent.

By underfunding municipal, county, state, and federal government agencies, infrastructure is allowed to go without maintenance. Go and debate what the proper funding model is as much as you want. The fact remains that corporate taxes are just as useful as private tax money.

Money is fungible. Even if it isn’t specifically earmarked for potholes, when it goes away then money to replace it has to come from *somewhere*. Deferring maintenance on infrastructure is a long-standing tactic for budget-crunched governments.

There’s no pothole god who creates potholes in anger everytime a corporation pays less tax.

... By reducing the amount of money spent preventing and repairing potholes. It’s not that big of a mental leap...

They paving companies probably don’t want to set a precedent of working with private individuals. Private individuals like to haggle; municipal government just writes a check.

Like, not directly. There’s no pothole god who creates potholes in anger everytime a corporation pays less tax.

Trump 2018 G7's achievements :

Our jaw-droppingly ignorant president needs to impose the tariffs now. That way the detrimental effects of higher prices and job losses will have a good chance of rippling thru the economy by the time Election Day gets here. And citizens, even 2016 Trump voters who will have seen the light, get vengeance by ripping
