I absolutely agree with you. However, I have learned always to err on the side of caution. I would much rather report (especially knowing that at least in California CPS' goal is to keep the family together when possible) than wait and second-guess. (I also say this as someone who has gone through several DV and child

I miss old Gaga When the talent and the weirdness went hand in hand. Now the look-at-me I'm different dambit thing is overshadowing the talent.

sigh

Shut up NO, NO, NO. she is not even next Madonna.

"you think we would go to war with Iraq w/o concrete evidence.... oh wait...."

Just like the old saying goes: "'I' before 'E' except after 'C' and don't you dare put a motherfucking 'K' after that shit either or I'll murder the fuck outta you."

I am SURE your objection to this is in good faith, Michelle-Malkin-who-literally-wrote-a-book-about-how-putting-Japanese-people-in-concentration-camps-was-the-right-thing-to-do.

This makes me want to ugly cry.

This reminds me of the time my now ex-husband announced on Facebook "Well, my wife just walked out on me," and proceeded to check in to one local bar after another, so he could live-blog his binge drinking. Stars! They're just like us!

I've yet to see a picture of that baby where she didn't appear to have serious qualms about the situation.

"Help!"

I wish it was easier for POC to become successful writers, directors, producers, etc. because we can't trust white people to write our stories for us. Granted, there are POC like Tyler Perry who, in my opinion, does a disservice to his own race, but whites in the entertainment business are way more guilty of

LOL @ ABC Family series as art.

While it's fine to think critically about the status of women in all cultures, it is important not to perpetuate racist or xenophobic stereotypes.

No one's saying we can't have a discussion about Saudi Arabian culture or that art can't frame that debate. However, in order to talk about the culture, it must be represented accurately. Here, the culture would be little more than an amalgamation of a bunch of stereotypes, which isn't sufficient to form a real debate.

Who are the authors? I find (respectful, of course!) representations of the Middle East really interesting because it's just a part of the world I am interested in (MENA politics are part of my academic studies, in fact), so these books sound like something I'd like to read!

That statement from ABC is the worst. "Calling us xenophobic clogged the flow of our creative juiiiiices! Waaaaaah."

Holy shit, it's like Not Without My Daughter made by MTV or something. What in the absolute fuck were they thinking? The burqa comment is especially heinous. I also love how being fucking kidnapped turns into some "adventure" for her. I just can't even. I'm glad this is dead but appalled it got so far into

As much as I would *love* to see a show set in the middle-east (I've recently fallen in love with a couple of Middle Eastern fantasy author's works & like seeing different places represented in stories) this sounds terribly misconceived.

I'm really starting to hate white people.
