The problem is that minding your own business costs nothing, but fighting for OTHER people to mind their own business is extra work.

It’s a culture war, and this is just one of the battle fronts. We’ve had so much progress on gay marriage, but the hateful little bigots were always looking for an opening. And they saw one with trans youth.

And this is the exception, not the rule. “Gender affirming care” is not only surgical, and basing an entire body of practice on a single instance doesn’t make sense. I don’t believe that gender affirming surgery for teens is standard practice, unless one can show otherwise.  

Now show all the kids who have transitioned successfully and happily and will testify that it literally saved their lives. (I can think of two I know personally right off the top of my head). 

The apology should have included the statement that the employee playing Rosita was fired.  Period.
