Yeah, this show is consistently great at both mid-season AND season finales.

I didn't get any of that from my viewing, just woodenness and a superficial attempt at standard "badass" stoicism. But I'm genuinely happy that people seem to like her — and maybe when I watch again I'll look for those layers that you two have mentioned.

OK, Martine was not working for me in this ep. I felt like in small doses she's fine (just like Uncle Nolan), but with all the focus on her in this ep I felt like her villainy was a bit over the top.

Yeah, it really depends on how much tolerance he has for procedurals. I'm with you there. Even at the end of when Shaw was walking out and she was just holding those vials in her bare hands… yikes.

Even Root/Finch, Reese/Shaw kind of fit that model…
