“Electric cars show up with impossibly quick 0-60 times causing ICE engined car manufacturer to quickly downplay the importance of 0-60 times”

I’m not sure how this moves the dial, they’re losing over $30k a vehicle sold, and their affordable smaller models won’t be here for another year at least. With very few service centers in every state I’m not sure this will pull people away from Ford, Chevy, GMC et al over the longterm.

When any pleb with near a hundred grand worth of buying power can get an EV that will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, of course that metric loses the panache it used to have to super and hypercar makers.

I agree with this! There is a certain power to weight ratio that once past that, is not fun. I say around 8-9lb/HP is the magic number, which is where my most fun cars have been. Had a 2015 Mustang GT which was a blast, traded for a 2010 Porsche 911 Carrera which is also right in that power to weight ratio. People

Wife and I are looking for something to replace her 2016 MKX. We love the size and the power is nice, but we’re looking for an mpg bump. Next car should be:

Ford Focus, is that you?

Take away the badge and you couldn’t convince me that you’d know it was a BMW. It’s a weird looking machine and I don’t like it.

And this is why you’ll never find me on TikTok. Ok, and the rampant misinformation put out there by “influencers” who don’t know their backs from their fronts. This is some real pointless garbage.

Still no hatchback / wagon version means no sale for me. I’ll stay with my 2011 WRX hatch for now.

If only we knew the scourge of “content creators”, “influencers”, and “4Chan” that would come of it, we could have shut the whole damn thing down before it was too late.

How “strong” tungsten is, is completely irrelevant. I’m sure 45 pounds of anything dropped from that height onto that roof would’ve done the same thing.

Isn’t the ratio greatly quickened when stopped like this? So, at higher speed, the driver would likely have to turn the steering wheel even further, which would reduce the lag.

If Tesla wants to recognize Musk for all his achievements, are they also going to recognize him for cratering their sales and stock price valuations?

Not really surprising as these cars appeal largely to younger drivers, and those buyers have been feeling the squeeze of higher rent and other costs lately. The fun stuff is the first to hit the chopping block; at least for the wiser buyers.

I’ll always star a green car.

I blame the dealers more than anything. Most people buy off the lot, and prioritise features/price/availability over colour. I’ve seen tons of people say they wanted an actual colour, but they settled for something greyscale because it was on the lot, had all the options they wanted, they could get a better price than

Tires make a hell of a difference. I would put money on a 2wd truck with mud tires and a LSD/locker over a 4wd truck with street tires.

As someone who has been to an actual class about how tires make a difference on lose surfaces, it does actually make a big difference. (You would not believe how many tires I own.) What is probably happening is that the traction control is detecting excessive wheel slip and is just cutting power.

I present to everyone, my non-grayscale RS5. I will die on this hill every day:

To be fair to the Cybertruck, we’ve got no idea what models of truck these were if the drivers were good at drag racing and driving on sand or even how long the race was.
