I was in the same boat as you in 2016: GTI, Clubman, or EV. I decided I wanted to try an EV, so I leased an eGolf.

Aren’t those like ~$80K?

Yeah I did go for a cheaper car, but I am pretty damn certain that was robbery too 😞 Just about everything you pay for at a wedding is robbery.

Not sure what “hourly fee of $99/ride mean” means, but this is an absolute steal compared to the last time I inquired about a ‘fancy car’ for the end of a wedding. I’m pretty sure the higher end vehicle (<5 year old Rolls) was >>$750/hour with the expectation of paying like $1500-2000 in cash at the end of the trip

Yeah I think most of the legend around this car was built up around the *used* NSX being exotic-looking, *reliable*, and semi-affordable. Meaning you (or that guy on the car forum you read) might be able to afford to buy and operate a 20-year-old used NSX in ~2005. You might also have been able to afford some kind of

Time for an article of 2018 Dodge Demon owners suing Stellantis for building a faster Dodge demon?

I think the main issue is that 5-7 years ago the cheap (maybe < $200) automotive radar was pretty simple — it might just give you a list of a dozen *moving* metal objects in front of the vehicle with some indication of what size they are based on their radar cross section.

Yeah the wheels of the latest EV’s are getting pretty weird. I guess they’re trying to keep them aerodynamic, so they are more like flat panels rather than traditional spoke designs. Here’s Kia’s version:

Sorry.. that yellow-bezeled clock is tacky (nautical ship wheel, anyone?). Also, I don’t appreciate the engine diagram on the passenger dash panel — looks like a diagram out of Road & Track; it belongs on a garage wall, not a luxury car.

wow that’s crazy

Data from the IHS Markit shows the average size of a vehicle screen was 7.7 inches in 2018, and it’s now expected to average 8.4 inches by next year.

It would be interesting to compare something like the Leaf / Bolt with a Prius. Last I checked, my Bolt’s insurance is as expensive as my wife’s Volvo, which cost ~2x more MSRP.

The M340i (rwd) is really more of a >$60K car, realistically. I doubt you’ll ever see one for $56K unless you special order it with no options.

Yeah the Bangle Butt is still damn ugly on the 7-series.

It’s cheaper and faster than a new GR86 -- maybe a good option for daily driving!  😁

I don’t think you read the same article that I did:

There’s always the late-1950's Ford concept that proposed a downscaled nuclear reactor:

Yes it’s a major improvement on Tesla, but I cannot see a Lexus Driver understanding the progressively changing steering vs. wheel angles. Maybe people just adapt naturally...?

Since this particular case is in Illinois, does this matter?

In my experience, the vast majority of Tesla haters are not ICE-purists (although some exist). Tesla haters either:
