Autopilot is OK, but FSD is a pipe dream with their current technology. While I would play with FSD occasionally, I’d *never* trust my life to a faulty system like that on a daily commute.

It’s an interesting guess, but it would be hard to keep it clean way up on the roof with some special dedicated cleaning system up there too.

Now I’ve been reading about road damage a bit, and it’s unclear to me. Some places say that roads should be designed to withstand the traffic on them, and therefore should not break down due to heavier vehicles. Others use a power law (i.e. weight^4).

The SSR is worse than the HHR in every way. The HHR had an excuse, at least, since it was cheap.

I know the Ford Thunderbird will appear here, but (except for the engine) the SSR is much worse:

Where are road divots coming from? Electric vehicles can be slightly heavier (i.e. Ford Lightning weighs about as much as an F250, and 1000 lbs more than an F150; Tesla Model 3 weights about the same as a BMW 5 series) but they’re still 5-10x less than a ~30,000-40,000 lbs city bus.

Some schools do massively profit in $$$ and PR from sports. On average, they do not. This means that, on average, NCAA athletics are sponsored by the state and federal taxpayers who keep college bills paid.

A school like Alabama or Oklahoma can rake in tons of $$$ based on athletic programs, but the majority of universities operate their athletic departments at a loss. I realize that ending NCAA Football or Basketball would literally be more controversial than most Republican vs. Democrat politics these days, but I still

I do understand the argument that the NCAA is exploiting these athletes. The “solution” of paying a relative few superstar teenage athletes in the $100K - $1M range, and then offering chump change to the rest is ridiculous.

For sure the top 10 football programs and a top men’s basketball programs make money for the school, but when you leave the top 20 (or 50?) then they are *all* money losing propositions. Smaller schools still feel the need to build large stadiums, hire staff, and build facilities despite the fact they they lose money.

Now playing

I demand a retest using this for the classical music:

The NCAA has relaxed its rules on what college athletes can do for money

I’m just jealous of your ND while commuting in a Bolt...

This is better, but I guess it’s pretty hard to find! I did see one in a parking lot in California a few years ago, so they do exist somehow.

That’s interesting. I wonder if they somehow thought they could attract the CUV crowd by making it tall? The Bolt does have a lot of headroom -- it’s like 7.5" taller than the Volt!

Yeah I think it’s pretty comfortable for 4x people.

Don’t forget that $95K Maranello would probably have cost you a ND Miata Sport per year in maintenance...

Images got dropped, but looks like a little bit of gold PlastiDip applied to this car’s wheels will give you a pretty good facsimile of the “limited edition”

  • It’s brown. Now just install the manual and a wagon-back and you’ll have the ultimate Jalopbach.

Yeah the problem here is 100% the size. I’m guessing when GM designed the Bolt, they were focused on stretching the range to compete with Tesla *and* making a compliance car to meet regulations in CARB states. The appearance of the vehicle was much lower on the priority list.
