Got to love a corrupt sheriff’s office.

Yeah I did this at the Stanford Mall in California (Palo Alto). Parking isn’t great, but somehow the mall is much more calm than the bigger, fancier mall 20 minutes away in San Jose — that place is a total shitstorm.

L77 engine the ad says was yanked from a Chevy police cruiser

The thing is, those two extremes are more aligned than most people hardcore D and R people think: a fascist dictatorship has no need for profit-seeking healthcare or student loans, since you are probably going to get access to healthcare and education based on what the government thinks you deserve.

Completely separating the show room / test drive experience from the sales experience would go a long way to making car shopping enjoyable. Have some knowledgeable, extroverted person who is excited about demoing a car walk me around the car and help with the test drive — like someone from an auto show. Don’t make

Ever been to a Tesla showroom? That’s a great experience. It’s easier than buying a pair of shoes.

No.

There are a bunch of styling ‘issues’ with this vehicle, but one thing that really bothers me is the Pontiac badge on the front:

Style is just a hair more conservative than I’d expect from Mazda, but not bad.

Get a bit further from the star and there won’t be as much radiation. Get it away from a planet, and there won’t be any thermal cycling.

The 1990's econobox could do this as well, but it had a 3 speed auto, so it was already doing >3500 rpm at 70. I guess the grade of the road makes all the difference, too.

With the 0.73 exchange rate, that $AUS 5.80/gallon is $USD 4.23.  We’re pretty comparable...

Inflation adjusted, the 2008 gas prices are worse than today. The national average needs to exceed $5.20/gallon to beat that record.

2. The short gearing does have an advantage. When on cruise control at 70, it keeps rock solid at 70, even on pretty steep hills.

The Camry is basically an old GM sedan like the Buick Lesabre, but with somewhat better mechanical reliability and substantially better interior materials:  no one really wants to drive one, but it’s quite comfortable and reasonably priced.

If base level head units / control panels end up like this, I can see an aftermarket business opportunity for people to build a 70's jet style UI with a bunch of toggle switches and 7-segment or analog gauge displays.

Yeah I did divide by $11/hr because I didn’t drink my coffee this morning, and I live in California so the minimum wage is $14...forgot the national minimum wage 🤯

  • At $15/gallon, someone has to work 1 hour and 20 minutes at a minimum wage job to pay for one gallon of gas, which will let you go about 12.4 miles from home. (Average US fuel economy is 24.9 mpg).

1. Congrats Mercedes!
