MS at least already does but, MS can’t cut out the middle man for all games. Not unless they publish every single game that comes out. They would have to essentially buy or tell all other publishers nope you can only sell through us. That’s not going to happen.

Parents tend to shop through actual stores versus Digital media. For one you can return physical media a lot easier than you can on Xbos or PS stores. Then you have the fact that physical media tends to get cheaper faster than digital. Then you factor in all the advertising they can still get in front of peoples…

Yeah I bought an X this gen and will not get a new system until games start running like crap on it, or they quit making games compatible with it.
