You’re totally reasonable on this one. In the battle between sugar and vinegar, sugar/ketchup will always take the youthful lead, but age and improved palettes typically push the needle towards the vinegary versatility of mustard.

I follow you. It’s the difference between writing a character who happens to be x, y, or z and writing an x, y, or z character. The former typically leads to much better results since the focus is on good characterization whereas the latter can move the focus from characterization to those specific desired traits.
