People hate Gladwell, but his podcasts are pretty damn entertaining. His music one is especially good.

It’s interesting to look at Podmass articles from 5 or 6 years ago and contrast them with the current ones. So many of the recommendations from the past year or two feel like homework assignments.

Ha! I remember watching a very early episode of Seinfeld—perhaps the very first one—with my grandmother in the summer of ‘89. But she must have quit watching it, because later, when my aunt tried to get her interested in the show, the episode airing that night was masturbation-themed, and it was embarrassing for all

I’d say we live in a golden age of reruns for grandparents, if only because Law and Order is almost constantly available.

I think most episodes of it are behind a paywall, though.

Ten years from now, we’ll all be subscribed to a dozen streaming services, and we’ll miss the good old days of cable TV. At least my beloved Andy Griffith reruns are still on Netflix.

I think so.  All those Chuck Lorre shows are good for grandparents, as long as they don’t mind a little raunchiness.

That probably has grandparent appeal. Grandparents love detective shows.

Ar there currently any TV shows airing that are mostly watched by people’s grandparents? When I was a kid, we had Matlock, In the Heat of the Heat of the Night, Highway to Heaven, etc. Just wondering if stuff like that is still getting made.

This means the golden age of podcasts is coming to a close, I think. It was good while it lasted. I’m still bummed that Steven Hyden’s Woodstock ‘99 podcast isn’t free.

Sorry, man. I know that “outcast and completely alone” feeling, and it sucks. I hope things get better for you.

Is it even possible to have a “whirlwind romance” with Pete Davidson? It just seems like the phrase should be reserved for someone with actual sex appeal. Pete Davidson is like a carton of 2-percent milk from a school lunchroom.

Has anyone mentioned The Subway yet? George is tied to a bed and robbed, and there’s a funny line about his mom looking worse than Hazel.

Good to see William Hughes back on the Smollett beat.  He’s been really on top of it from the beginning.

Only vaguely. Wasn’t there some 17yo bro who slept with a famous actress and then tried to sue her or something? Maybe you could jog my memory.

This is terrible news for lots of reasons. One reason it saddens me is that I like collecting the reissues put out by Mobile Fidelity Labs and other specialty labels, many of which are the best-sounding copies you can purchase. These reissues (or the ones that sound good, anyway) rely on the master tapes.

I hate to see him waste his talents on a damn Star Trek movie,” said the old man I am quickly becoming.

This would be a great cover for an artist or band known for its irony, but that ain’t Bruce.

Todd VanDerWerff is Emily VanDerWerff now. Has that been mentioned here yet?

Many of the commenters here are of the opinion that Gadsby is right about Louis but also not terribly funny. Does anybody think she is wrong about Louis but also hilarious? I would assume that a lot of the laughs she gets are performative, from people eager to show they agree with her. The laughs Louis gets are from a
