@TehBeardMan: "The End." ? You're dead?
@Wabbited: Would it be better to tell them, "In 5 years, I see myself in the Bahamas, dragging down a 6-figure residual income, while you're still interviewing for mailroom positions"?
@Mr. M: I used a safety razor/soap/mineral oil combo for many months, and it was good. Not great, but good. There always seemed to be just a hint of stubble left that I could never get rid off. After using the same blade for a month, I tried one of my "disposable" blades with the mineral oil. It took the lubrication…
@thinkerer: Some of us (me) don't live in a "city". My water still comes from a well, 400 ft down and tapped into an underground river, thankyouverymuch. Nor do I have a water softener (yet), so this is actually very helpful.
I was asked to set up a couple of servers at work, for our developers, and calmly informed the manager that it would have to be Linux because: I was given no budget (old machines), and I wasn't going to pirate Windows server. Plus, I don't know WinServer, all my server training (years ago in the military) was for…
This almost sounds like what they do with my autistic son. He's used a weighted vest, weighted blanket, and actually been held down in his chair to focus for his therapy tasks.
@Shadow-Lurker: Do what I did to get rid of my stupid skin-head neighbors: Start lifting weights, enough that the bar starts to take a permanent bend; grow your hair long and develop that 1000-yard-stare that totally freaks out cops; when you come home from 2nd shift and your weekend is starting @ 3:am Friday…
@SigmundTheSeaMonster: Guess he needed slightly better tech than what he had. *sad*
I think a bit of thin, cushiony foam, like on pruning shear handles, would work a little better. I used to do a LOT of surface mount soldering by hand, and holding it pencil-style was never a big deal. I wasn't holding it long anyways.
@aja175: My wife and I didn't get any decent cookware the first couple years we were married. We just made do with the nasty teflon coated aluminum pots we had before we met.
@thinkerer: Try neutralizing the spices by scalding some milk in the pan.
@Tyler Sebastian: C'mon people. You complain and moan about Vista and XP, so change to Linux! It's freakin' worth it!
@BishopBlaize: It's also exciting staring down the barrel of a gun, but generally not recommended.
@Monty: Apple doesn't seem to want to play nice with anyone: Adobe, developers, customers ... I'm sure this WOULD work for the Ipad, but Apple won't let it. You'd have to buy an app for that...
"This is more secure that That!" statements are usually unsupported with facts, and reflect the persons bias. The fact is: any system can be hacked. The issue is: Make it open, flexible, and easy to use, or locked up, secure, stiff, and a pain? It depends on how important your data is. I work on multiple OSs all day,…
I saw someone put their entire pc in a freezer because they wanted to overclock it, and didn't want to get a vapochill refrigerated case. I suppose you could do the same thing here, just for data recovery. Definitely a little different!
@mediaphile: I normally first clean the disc with alcohol, then use a shot of good carnuba liquid wax to fill in the scratches. I use the same pattern that @Lifehackerdude suggests for using Brasso. Sometimes it takes multiple applications to repair the disc, and sometimes it just doesn't work. If you find a disc with…
@btowntkd: I purchased a NICE stainless set for my wife (not cheap, though), because you can get good additional stainless wares one piece at a time, and it still matches! Salt-n-Pepper mills, paper towel holders, trivets, spatulas, etc..
@Buster Friendly: Only when I much younger, and the company was... frisky. : D
