That was an excellent selection. Although I wish it was one entry longer because the one about the guy on the Craigslist date with the guy who worked real estate and was making noises in the basement was terrifying. I thought about that story for DAYS after I read it. Scary as hell.

When I was young our house was broken into and I noticed the intruder hiding under my moms bed by looking in a floor length mirror she had. Guess who’s not a fan of using a bed frame?

Eh, to me, that one sounded more like a “dating horror story” than a “horror story.” Unlike the story about the gay guy who went to a model home near O’Hare to hook up with a probable murderer, it sounded like the decapitation guy had some serious issues with judgment and boundaries, but probably wasn’t going to try…

I had a hard enough time when they turned it into a musical (NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE A MUSICAL!!), but even that is much better than this. The fact that they even reference Martha Dumptruck in the description of one of the actors, defeats the whole purpose of this story. I say we just set the whole thing on fire now.

SERIOUSLY. By making the movie’s outsiders the Mean Girls, they’re no longer outsiders, and it’s impossible to root for them because they’re the Mean Girls, so... we’re left with conventionally attractive, heteronormative, and socially adept people to root for? WAITAMINNIT.

This is my favorite post of the year. I only wish Kinja would make it easier to save my place! I want to read aaaaaallllll the scary stories. I tried keeping the tab open, so I can use a scary story as a reward for working, and it reset the page. The horrors.
