Give it another try. Seriously. I like the pilot well enough, but probably every other episode of series 1 is better, and the subsequent series arguably improve from there.

I don't especially think it's unique; the kind of sensibility I'm talking about is hardly rare in UK comedies. It would have been unique among American sitcoms if it had been remade with that sensibility intact, but that could probably never have happened anyway.
Thanks for that link. That covered my paltry thoughts on the matter, and a lot more. I was pretty focused on the surreality, but also a sort of heartlessness ("no hugging, no learning"). He's right that Seinfeld came closest, but that basically no other American show has had these qualities, but definitely not in such…
I'm here to drink milk and kick ass. AND I'VE JUST FINISHED MY MILK
I'm completely in love with this man. That being said, even though he was involved, it's probably better that there's no American IT Crowd. I've just rewatched every series yet again (yay Netflix), and without even knowing there was an American…
The Real Ghostbusters + Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Definitely not those Mario brats. No one they rescue ever seems to stay rescued.
Discworld
Some of the more entertaining world-savers out there. Take your pick from among the Watch, the Lancre coven, the wizards of UU, etc.
I do keep stupidly forgetting about Iorek, but then, I didn't actually see the movie. I hope his portrayal was adequately awesome. The Bear was quite good as well. But still, are these enough to outweigh the Yogis, and the Open Seasons, and the who knows what else?
Dammit Hollywood, how about a respectable, dignified bear character for once? Why the shit has no one made a Wojtek Bear biopic yet?
What, as if so much more art and culture happens in Santa Fe than Albuquerque…oh wait
If you think I'm gonna make a two hour round trip just to pick up your little rag, well, forget it!
What about Oedipal necrophilia?
Oh, as if talking human movies are so great.
Mike, you poor confused little lammykins, you can't really complain about having your argument reduced to "'This game sucks because it doesn't have the things we usually take for granted in a Rockstar game'" immediately after you yourself say "its lacking the fun, humor, creativity, and freedom of choice they have…
Mike, child, do you really think I give you grief because of the fact that you disagree with the grades? Hell, so do I much of the time (including this one. Take a look at the first page of comments). So do a lot of people, but most of us are more interested in discussing our experiences of the game than in some…
No, he's not being overly critical. He's just grasping for any reason at all to disagree with the AVC. Seriously, every time they grade down a flawed blockbuster, Mike's there to say "How dare they disagree with other critics who gave this an A?! It's a AAA game!!" Now they give a flawed blockbuster an A, and it's…
Bkbroiler's pretty much right about HR. The only similarity is that things can play out differently according to your performance, although, as others have pointed out, HR had some more variety in the way of end states where LAN seems to end up more or less the same regardless of stops along the way.
@Mikey: I admit, I've been using that method a bit more than is reasonable, which is probably why I'm taking forever to get through it, because, like Dr. Acula, I find it super galling when I screw up interrogations.
Hell, I was pretty sure from the beginning that I was going to trade it in, so I didn't even redeem the pre-order bonus. Some lucky Amazon shopper is going to get that suit with their used copy.
I'm pretty ambivalent. I'd probably give it a B, maybe B-. I think it's an extraordinary technological and artistic achievement that's nevertheless not much fun to play. You couldn't ask for a better playable police procedural, and I find things like the first exploration of a crime scene uniquely thrilling. However…
Anyone else hear late that the guy behind it is the writer/director of The Getaway, and come that close to canceling their pre-orders?
