Years ago, I used to work as a phone tech for a 3rd company installer. When you're in the phone room for a multi-unit building, you can listen in on any phone line you want, fax included. It would have been nothing to drop a tap on a fax line.

It looks like someone loaded VMware Player and put an OS that does nothing but make an error message for a fake OS. Hardly what I would call paid advertising. Especially since no actual VMware product is shown.

That's not how TV works. They put these movies on because they make money money than they cost. They aren't squandering anything other than a 2 hour timeslot they would likely struggle to fill anyway.
