Except the sheer existence of Fallout 76 was to be an exploitative cash grab. Their goal was to create an always-online ecosystem that urged players to spend real-money for shit. They just sucked at it.

Releasing Fallout 76 in a heinously broken and incomplete state was not “incompetence”. At this point, you just don’t want to attribute to malice that which originated from a company you personally like.
