Sequence breaking does not mean glitches were involved. Super Metroid is a prime example of being able to sequence break without glitches. Whether it’s with the wall jump, bomb jump, or even damage boosting. Those aren’t glitches, those are mechanics within the game being used.

You’re not supposed to be able to use firejumping to damage boost through fiery platforms in Dodongo’s Cavern after skipping the slingshot, but that’s allowed in the category. And it’s allowed because it uses intended mechanics which exist within the physics of the game to move precisely in ways which were not

Can’t I agree with the analog but I’ll still try to break down how I personally see it:

is that not a glitch? You’re technically breaking the game.

Going by developer intention is something we try to avoid at all costs. For example, lets say the devs place a platform slightly wrong and didn’t realize in play-testing that you could jump to it. Literally just jumping and you barely make it. Now all of a sudden you’ve skipped a lot of otherwise mandatory content,

I’m not so sure, if I’m being honest. Damage boosting is an intended mechanic. Link is supposed to get tossed when hit by a strong attack like a bomb or Iron Knuckle axe. The trick merely times a jump slash at the right moment, in combination with the boost.

I am fine with the categories. Think about track and field. If you say you are the fastest person, then you generally have to qualify it with a distance. But should we get rid of all running events besides the 200m just because it is the highest speed one?

I agree. Using a bomb to launch yourself OVER the gate is a skip. Using it to launch yourself THROUGH the gate is a glitch. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

“You’re selling custom Mylar balloons of your original character Blonic the Hedgehog when Disney comes knocking on your door with a cease and desist. What are your rights?”

Precisely. Every time I tried to block, it almost always tried to grab, which you could imagine led to some very unfortunate results.

I was expecting to give the switch a try by buying the pack with Splatoon 2 included, but seeing the lack of innovation it won’t happen

If anything, if it weren’t a Nintendo title people wouldn’t be looking so hard for any excuse to tear it down.

Hopefully it’s a good port, I was a little bummed when Bungie ported Halo from the Xbox to the Xbox and called it Halo 2. I mean, sure, there was a new campaign, new weapons, new levels, new mechanics, improved graphics, and better customization, but it was still Halo.

Makes sense. The first game faced an uncertain market and was a bold experiment. I’m sure the team wasn’t exactly flush with cash while they put it together, and they still managed to make something genuinely new and exciting.

Honestly? I think NommComs is exaggerating a bit too much there, or perhaps he doesn’t understand certain stuff. Aliasing will show in both games if you zoom in too much in certain areas, and this will depend on where characters/objects are positioned at, drawing distance among other stuff. As the games are not

On a technical level it looks fairly much the same. A little more refinement here and there. It is definitely a huge step up as far as art design goes. Which makes sense. I doubt Nintendo wanted to spend a bunch of money creating complex animations and refined presentation on a game they had no idea about market

It’s a portable Nintendo device with twice the ram of it’s predecessor home system.

oh, if only we held call of duty’s “sequels” to the same degree of scrutiny.

That is a shame, though. But I totally get it, none of the Elder Scrolls or GTA games work for me and I get a lot of flak for it.
