I'm curious to hear your thoughts on downward visibility out front for daily use. How confident are you that you won't hit the car in the stall next to you?

Yes, yes he does. No doubt, this guy is smarter than the average CEO - by probably a few orders of magnitude. I think he's right on about not trying to patent all stuff electric because it will just stifle the research and proliferation of the technology. I used to be a big supporter of patents, but now not so…
It's not often that a company like Porsche is the underdog. But as they gear up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend, that's exactly what they are. Returning to the race for the first time since the late 1990s, they're up against far more established teams, most notably corporate cousin Audi. How can they possibly…
I believe this is the guy in charge of changing passwords for these government signs. He's been waiting for congress to approve the new strong password.
Here's why I'm not in favor of a rating system: insurance companies. The cost of HPDEs has gotten outrageous in the past decade because event insurance continues to skyrocket. If tracks are given a hard rating system, the insurance boys (who are not stupid) will use this to assess rates for the tracks: bad ratings =…
That goes to prove another point: what good is that kind of power if you can't put it down?
Wait a minute...you have a S54 and you're going on about the LT4? The S54 is a modern marvel with direct F1 technology inside and sold to the general public. Sure, it's not the cheapest horse in the stable to run, but it's won many racing championships. (A friend is on his way to a trophy this year by beating back…
Actually, the GT-R has always beat the Corvette. The introduced model was faster than the C6 ZO6 - I know, because I won money from a Corvette guy on that bet. By the time GM had the ZR1, Nissan had Godzilla waiting for them. But by that point, it wasn't much fun because the GT-R had already reached the ZR1's insane…
However, there is another, smaller engine that has had Corvette's number since it came out: GT-R. The measly 3.7L V6 managed to put an 11-second hurt on the former ZR1 at the 'ring:
The 20th century called, you're late for your appointment. By your logic, I need to stuff this thing into my sports car because it has 107,000 hp:
I wouldn't say "eat alive", quicker maybe a better term.
I'm failing to see why everyone's pumped about this low-end torque number...so they just now managed to catch up with the S63 in the M5, but with 44% more displacement...seems like something I would keep on the down-low if I were GM.
Boy, with all the hatred of the Cobalt on this site, methinks I can get an SS for my next ChumpCar for next to free!
That's a great thing to hear! I'm convinced it's a model for success, and will keep you much happier with your job. Good luck!
I'm not sure I agree with some of what you mentioned, but yes, you need to be cool with the fact that someone (most likely non-technical) will get your glory. I wouldn't say the super star engineers are managing teams: most of they time they seem to "promote out of the way" which means they move you up so that you…
I completely agree with your idea that leadership needs to take the sword, not the underlings. Isn't this why they get paid 300 times more than the rest of us?
wzsn, I do worry about mankind; knowing there are lots of people out there like this. Instead of taking a trip outside their gated communities and engaging the actual people directly, they find it much easier to make up their own version of what other groups of people are like. Thank you for not being one of them. =)
I think this is one of those rare times when you wouldn't want to be buckled in. Note to self: unbuckle belt if being approached from the side by one of these side-smasher-things while driving in my ClubCar down the highway.
I always feel conflicted when I see high end cars get crunched. My inner 5 yr old self enjoys the unique crunching sound of carbon fiber, but my older self wants to cry because I know how much effort and artistry went into making it.
So you chastise the poor for making bad financial decisions then, in the same breath, suggest one:
