Except that most people didn’t like him and what he was saying wasn’t at all palatable to white audiences at the time.
Except that most people didn’t like him and what he was saying wasn’t at all palatable to white audiences at the time.
When I watch videos that give an idea of how he was perceived by the white establishment at the time—that is what makes him a hero to me. It’s easy for us to say now, “yes, protesting Vietnam was right” or “Yes, segregation was bad”. But Ali was an outspoken black man from Kentucky, who openly discussed his religion…
Many people can relate to his protest against the Vietnam War, but his blackness and his religion were his personal motivations for claiming conscientious objector status. He demanded to know why he should fight a war for American when America wouldn’t fight for his basic civil rights at home. War was also against his…
One of the gorillas in a zoo near me ripped the arm off its newborn infant. I don’t understand those thinking this gorilla gave a shit about this random human baby.
My mom in a parent-of-a-toddler-sleep-deprived daze left me at the grocery store (which had a kid’s area, you could check a kid into while you shopped). As my dad helped her unload groceries he asked, “Where’s toddler rabblerabble?” She found me napping in front of a TV playing Disney cartoons. I also used to…
It’s soooo boring. Why can’t they make up an alien baby or something!?
I don’t understand this story and anytime I try to understand it I get too bored to care. Why is it still happening?
I’ve been shouting this a lot at presidential debates, “this is all just a game of thrones and you’re all ignoring the white walkers!!!!!’
I agree with you and I’m also OK with the theory you have presented.
“just confirming the number of warts, boss!”
Poor Walda was so happy, dammit Ramsey!
I definitely think that explains certain areas of Kentucky, God forbid any politicians say what we all know about the coal industry. But like you say, Bernie hasn’t spoken in favor of coal. I think it’s a mix of what happened in West Virginia and also general hatred for Hillary Clinton and Obama.
The Bernie or bust folks I see have never voted in an election before, so aren’t really going to effect the vote in any way. Hillary will win if she can get enough moderate Republicans to vote for her and if she can rally the base, which I hope she does.
How exactly is he going to split the vote when he’s not running as a 3rd party candidate?
Sanders cannot be a Nader because he is not running as a 3rd party candidate. Hillary is close to gaining the number of delegates she needs to win the nomination and she also stayed in the race until early June when she ran against Obama. It’s almost over for fuck’s sake.
Or those are at least the loudest ones. I’m quietly support Bernie, but I won’t dare engage the Facebook political system for fear of having my head chopped off when I tell friends that their dank Bernie meme does not include a citation.
The number of Bernie supporters posting pictures of the NY primary like, “How did Bernie win, like, all the counties and Hillary still one the state?” Like, guys—that is how insanely densely populated the New York metro area is. God forbid they see what Obama’s electoral map looked like, they’ll try to recall him.
What bugs me the most is that the people complaining about this are mad that THEY were affected by their own ignorance/laziness on the political process in their district. Meanwhile, there are people who are actively having their votes suppressed and these folks don’t give two shits about it.
If this is how it is with our own party, I dread the memes I’m going to see when we head into the general.
Shit, I saw some 30-sometimes on FB yesterday who posted shit like, “welp, forgot to change parties months ago—didn’t get to vote for Bernie. Oopsie doodle!” Like, literally—take a two second break from posting dank Bernie memes to google your state election system. Our secretary of state has for months been posting…
