I worked with many students who wrote school papers on their cell phone. Many of them also had cheap, used tablets for the same purpose. Then they had to trek down to the library to type up their homework on a computer. They basically had to do their homework twice, with the added difficulty of being non-native

When so many jobs require employees to be “on call,” anyone who thinks cell phones are a luxury deserves a punch in the face.

Seriously. We all lived through the recession. Why is it shocking that poor people were not always, necessarily poor. Our country has already forgotten what happened in the recent past. The working class still hasn’t recovered and the future isn’t looking great from where I’m sitting.

As someone who began working in libraries in extremely poor neighborhoods at the “end” of the Great Recession, helping the people you are denigrating apply for jobs or even maybe spend a few minutes of normalcy listening to music or checking in with friends on Facebook—let me just give you a hearty F*** YOU.

I totally agree. My main point was that even a couple with stable jobs who can pay for bills without worrying, who can usually save up a tiny emergency fund to make up for a smaller paycheck or an unexpected bill—even we have trouble affording fresh fruit and vegetables in a comparably affordable city surrounded by

My husband and I are doing OK. We don’t struggle to pay our bills, but we certainly can’t afford to live frivolously. We try to eat healthy, but we really can’t afford a lot of fresh healthy foods. Food going bad before we can eat it is our biggest concern, especially because fresh fruit and vegetables really are

And God forbid they ever have a moment to just rest. It is exhausting to be poor.

Imagine how hard it must be for someone who works as much as your wife without a partner to help at home, for a lot less money, and possibly with children?

He was raised in the church, so that brain washing goes deep. Same for his wife Marissa Rabisi.

Or his then wife’s taste in music, I believe she selected and wrote incidental music for the soundtrack. Nancy Wilson of Heart. I met them both at a signing for Elizabethtown, because they filmed parts in my town. I briefly saw Orlando Bloom and Crowe signed my VHS copy of Almost Famous. I told him, “I watched this

I went for a few years sharing a car with my 3rd shift partner and ended my weekend social life. Now I have a car, but most of my friends who will meet up for a drink and ready to head home at 10 have moved out of state. Such is life.

My husband works 3rd shift on weekends and I don’t know what happened to all my friends. I stay home every weekend now, watch Netflix, and eat takeout. Sometimes it’s the best but it’s also crazy lonely. I mostly lurk here on Saturdays because I’m forever grey.

Fellow library worker. I no longer think books are sacred, but instead outdated mold and bed bug carriers. Patrons who get weirdly upset when they discover we throw away damaged books don't seem to understand that new books are published constantly and if a book is needed we will just buy a new one. The burden of

I’m known to make ice coffee with day old coffee left in the pot while I brew fresh coffee because #chemicaldependency

In any potential friend conflict I ask myself: “what’s more important, this or my friend?” Pretty much every time my friend is more important. I can’t imagine getting angry at anyone over a present, I’m just happy people I love gave up their time to be with me.

Or at least move to Louisville! We’re gay friendly (inside the Watterson)!

Who cares, the woman is a genius song writer—let’s just love her and never learn anything about her personally.

Headliners, the worst venue I’ve ever been to. I’ll never see another show there, every time the audience has been garbage. Tickets to see Newsom were $8 and people acted like they were just at a bar. She asked people not to smoke and told the venue not to change the lighting because it made it hard to see her

CHER.

She ended up walking off stage after 20 minutes the one time she played my town right after YS was released and it was so awful! The crowd was full of total assholes who talked over her the entire time, but when she was playing I remember thinking I had never heard such beautiful, life changing music in my entire
