Steering and brakes are still mostly physical. There's alot of electronics with it but there is still a physical connection.

They immediately drove into the service department and stated that the rear tires wore abnormally fast and that they should be replaced under warranty.
Its just instinct to try to stop the thing from falling regardless of how dangerous and stupid it is. I was working with a guy who had a van slip off and he went running toward it like he was going to stop it.
