I’m amazed Kimo still has this car. The Sunworks team has been pretty big in the Houston scene for the ten years that I’ve been following it now, and I remember when this car first started showing up at meets when I was in high school, very cool to see it progress like this.
I always tell myself I’m going to just warm up in Mystery, and then I spend all the time I had allotted in that mode instead of switching to competitive.

I think the immediate condition of his legs contributed more to the time it took to get him out than the other way around. A lot of material penetrated the pedal box and they didn’t want to injure him further. He was lucky no major arteries were severed and they had that much time to extract him carefully.
I’m sure that F1 cars have more vigorous protection associated with the higher speeds, but it’s always a possibility with racing.
