I have a hard time believing that the actuaries are intentionally adjusting their data to change the premiums in minority neighborhoods. Could there be something in the actuarial models that does not show up in the profile Consumer Reports and Pro Publica are using?

Brave of you to publicly advocate for civil forfeiture. Most people think that’s horrible.

FFS, don’t make this a black vs. white thing. Unless you can go back in time, you’re just picking a fight.

Now playing

Maybe off topic but this always makes me remember what might be my most favorite video in all of youtube. Something I aspire to as a father of a little girl.

How can you possibly see all this complexity yet still imagine some narcissistic bearded asshole who’ll torture some neolithic sheep herder for eternity because they didn’t worship them could have anything to do with it?

Perhaps he’s been- he’ll love this one- living under a rock.

I’m thrilled to hear this, since literally the only two good things about BvS were Wonder Woman and her theme song.

First of all, shut your face.

“The process and techniques used for animating the two films was the same, the practices and techniques available to the two sets of animators was IDENTICAL.”

I feel like if you’re judging Mary Poppins on the basis of the animation, you’re missing the point as to what made the movie great.

??

Because most socialist policies are deeply unpopular and would result in massive electoral losses?

Or maybe it’s a case of “this thing just has a shit ton of horsepower”. Professional racing drivers also crash out every now and then.

The thing about this quote that makes it kind of stupid is that sometimes when someone says “you hurt my feelings”, it’s completely appropriate to say “so fucking what?”

Did you read what Keene wrote? Her argument is essentially that unless you’re a Navajo, you shouldn’t be able to write stories about skin-walkers. That’s insane and utterly racist.

Or maybe she assumes her reader are wanting FICTION and not a discourse on the complexities of Native American cultures through the ages. Like most internet outrage, this is entirely fabricated, by people who have nothing better to do. I’m starting to think it’s a First World Problems kind of thing.

I find it quite disturbing that you would consider any kind of fiction out of bounds because of the sensibilities of other people. No, I would have absolutely no problem with a story about your quote. Actually it sounds pretty cool.

Neither do I. If she had left Native Americans out people would be complaining about that instead. I guess the internet was having a boring friday and needed something to be offended about.

My geographical location has nothing to do with my ability to make moral judgements. How ridiculously condescending of you, and exactly the kind of insane moral logic I’m talking about.

As somebody who doesn’t live in the USA and is therefore not drowning in a morass of racial neuroses, I don’t find anything remotely offensive about Rowling’s description of Native American magic.
