Meghan Trainor is the whitest-sounding white singer on radio except maybe T-Swift.

I think the ethical thing would be to consider Harrington’s complaint valid, and use it to reinforce the similar complaints we hear regularly from women in the entertainment industry which are frequently dismissed with “Then you shouldn’t have gotten the boob job/dress that way/etc/shut up and take off your clothes…
Speaking of white male angst, Gawker just filed for bankruptcy.
“Get over it. You have an amazing career and you’re on a hot show. Take your shirt off.”
Funnily enough, the current Reddit Consensus (tm) about Pao is that she was basically the fall-guy (gal?) CEO. They bring her in, she makes a whole bunch of changes, user shit-storm happens, they fire her, bring back the old CEO, users rejoice, and in their giddy joy, they conveniently fail to notice that the new…
A strong argument for the people who believe that white people shouldn’t say “woke”?
It’s really exhausting to see how many comments here boil down to “as an able-bodied person, I think disabled people are just too sensitive.”
Is awkward and clunky and artless.
But it’s not like there aren’t disabled actors out there who could play that role. There are. Having people who aren’t disabled play those parts does matter. Would you say the same about having a white person play a Native American? Or a cis person plays a trans person? There are so many actors out there to choose…
Man. I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised that the comments on this article are so different to the comments on last week’s Constance Wu/whitewashing article, but I am. Basically, it appears that “chill the fuck out” is the consensus here. The one movie of the year about a person with a serious disability — not…
As someone with a disability can I just say that while this isn’t the norm for people with disabilities, this is absolutely the case for some people.
I’m leaving this because deleting things sucks (and people have already replied), but I misread the main article and this first paragraph doesn’t apply to the character in the movie at all. My mistake:
I cannot imagine any other criminal scenario in which this is okay. Oh, we have the bullets used in 100,000 murders and each one has a clear fingerprint on the casing, but we aren't running the prints and, funny story, we even misplaced a bunch of the bullets. Sorry for the inconvenience; thoughts and prayers.
This is also true for acquaintance rape, IIRC. It’s not that EVERY drunk college douche is a rapist. It’s that the ones that are rapists (and get away with it) have multiple victims.
I’m trying really hard to keep my inner Lewis Black caged but, you know, the thing about serial rapists is that actually testing the motherfucking kits would help to catch and convict them and would lead to fewer rapes!
Yup, not surprising. This is seen in research regarding self-reported incidents of sexual assault by men as well. It’s usually the same dudes perpetrating over and over.
An initiative to test almost 5,000 previously untested rape kits in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, has resulted in over 250…
more unearned hate against interracial families, this doesn’t help my family.
Yea it wasn't the most eloquent statement but he doesn't like how people treat him because of his looks and feels like it cheapens his craft... Totally don't have a problem with that.
Yeah, I think he means objectification not sexism, but his point is very valid. And it totally sucks to be objectified so Jon Snow, for once, you kinda know something maybe?
