I wish someone would have told these kids that those kind of videos were seen as cheesy in the 90s too.

You don't speak for all women, as I am one. It offended you, in part because you missed the point. There was no comparison of rape with academic misbehavior.
Why not? They've already convicted him in the public court based on third-hand information. But All Things On The Internet Are True.
If there's something I don't like about the coverage on this current case is the inconsistency of what this Rodger kid is. It seems like people are calling him white or multi-ethnic to suit their argument. I'm not saying you are in particular, since this is the first post of yours I've read. But I'm going to nitpick…
The cops only got, what, maybe 15-30 minutes with him? Maybe he did seem nice. Tons of people report that psychopaths and sociopaths seem nice when you first meet them. My wife said that one sociopath she had the "pleasure" of working with on her psych rotation was nice, charming, and very seriously scary once you…
Rule 1: Women are never at fault in any matter sexual. Rule 2: Women never, ever, ever lie about rape. Rule 3: If you disagree with either of the above rules, you are a misogynist working in furtherance of rape culture.
Fair enough. But, honestly, that bit about the changes going unpublished in the rulebook is small potatoes compared to some of his other allegations listed in the linked article: specifically the use of anonymous witness testimony and his claim that he was given insufficient opportunity to argue his case.
I'm offended when people's lives are ruined by genuine kangaroo courts that operate under no obligation to ensure due process. That's my answer. If you can't handle it or wrap your head around it, feel free to get back to whatever bitter little enterprise keeps you coming back to this site.
i know it's from the article, but all the conflicting text messages and the fact she admits she doesn't really remember the night. the part you quoted absolutely sounds like she was assaulted, but that is a small part of her account. i'm just saying the entirety of the evidence, as presented, casts real doubt on…
The standard for being found civilly liable for sexual assault (read: sued) isn't even the same as it is for criminal adjudication, the burden of proof is significantly lower. And if you get sued and lose, you potentially will have to pay out lots and lots of money.
It's astonishing how few people here understand or care about the concept/principle of due process. You're perfectly fine with bona fied kangaroo courts run by legal novices and armchair lawyers ruining people's lives on scant evidence in order to further political aims. And why? Because "rape culture." Fuck you.
i hate to say it, because i know false accusations are rare, but after reading the indy week article, it does not sound like this was a sexual assault.
What about women cheaters who decide they don't wanna cheat anymore during the middle of it?
Actually, as someone who works in student conduct, due process is an important part of the field. Without due process in a student conduct hearing, a student can successfully sue a college. He is suing Duke because he believes they changed their processes without notice. Which may or may not be a violation of his…
I thought the same thing, too. I've seen Luis Suarez dives more convincing than that one.
Civilly/criminally- Black. Although Pink was originally a licensee and Black had a duty of care to her, Black revoked Pink's status as a licensee so Pink became a known trespasser after notice was clearly provided. Even though Pink remained on the property without Black's consent, defense of property wouldn't be a…
Wow, you are right. It's Chekhov's shovel! This really is a triumph of a film.
