I agree with this entirely, and it’s a point I am surprised isn’t made more often. There was nothing wrong with what Rian Johnson was trying to do, just in where he was trying to do it. Chapter eight of a nine chapter story is the time to set up the ending conflict, to deliver on whatever it is the preceding chapters…

Because it would make the comments in TFA about Luke “walking away from it all” a lie if Luke was actually on some kind of secret mission to “Find some Jedi stuff.”
