They tied themselves to Evangelical Christianity back in the 80s and this is why they have a social policy platform that doesn’t conform at all to their traditional philosophies and stances.

This reminds me of the 70s, when the networks would put together a prime-time show, made up of some celeb(s) shilling for the new pilots that were coming that Fall, showing clips along the way, for an hour. Because you could just sit back and go, “No, no, no...maybe...ugh..no.” as each clip played.
