Slavery is a stain for all of Americans to share. So let’s start by not mythologizing those that literally died to keep it.

I believe you meant a burning cross. of chicanery. That is kinda their brand.

Republican claim: “Teh poor brown immigrants criminals are bankrupting our economy with entitlements!”

true, ohio 2004 is pretty fishy.

Exactly. No absentee ballots and polling stations located 20 miles away should fix that little “black people voting” problem right up.

That ... explains a lot, really.

Somebody needs to go to jail.

You might say the Kochs saw the way Virginia was trending & decided NC, with similar economic & demographic makeup, might be nudged away from blueish-purple & toward right-wing nutjobbery with a few billion well-directed dollars. It is a measure of their success that North is presently the crazier of the Carolinas. :/

The GOP will never try to get rid of absentee ballots. Old people frequently vote absentee due to medical issues that make it difficult for them to get to the polling place, and they overwhelmingly vote Republican.

You mean 2008 - it narrowly went for Romney in 2012. I know how you feel though - my mother and sisters and I are the only ones in the extended family that aren’t conservatives. I’m just glad Virginia hasn’t gone the way NC has, and has instead continued to drift further to the blue column.

It’s a shame. When NC went blue for Obama in 2012, this raised progressive southerner(only my sisters and mother in a family of staunch conservatives) got to finally be proud of a southern state.

I don’t see any problems here.

Not your imagination! North Carolina was deliberately chosen by the Kochs and their buddy Arthur Pope as the laboratory for their libertarian, racist, permanent-GOP-majority, Constitutional Conventioneering program. It’s an excellent study subject, because it has a mixed economy, balanced demographics, and enuf

I’m convinced that the national gop uses NC as a testing ground to see what they can get away with.

Actually? Yes.

Even against the background of hypocrisy, skulduggery and incompetence exhibited by the Grand Old Trump Party nationally, I swear the NC GOTP stands out as a burning beacon of chicanery. That they’re my representatives riles me up on a daily basis

Lock him up.

This being the NC GOP, I fully expect the legislature to change the law to ensure nothing like this ever happens again (by which I mean, getting caught at stealing elections).

They’ll contest that decision every day.

Election do-overs are not unheard of. There was one just earlier this year in Georgia. I don’t know what the law is exactly in NC, but if there are enough shady ballots to throw the outcome into doubt, the election commission can throw out the results and order a new election.
