I agree that the way to bring in new players and to keep old ones is to keep the game fresh by changing it, but I don’t see how making it easy for people to get loot boxes in custom games is necessarily an effective way at achieving this.

Why do you need a reward for playing a game? I thought games were rewarding to play in and of themselves. I don’t remember being given anything of monetary value simply for sinking 100+ hours into the Ocarina of Time or for having all night Smash marathons with my friends.
