I want to say upfront that I don’t support the death penalty and I believe that Melissa Lucio deserves a retrial based on the way her confession was obtained and the way the prosecutor’s corruption.

While I’m opposed to the death penalty in any case I’m confused why it is imposed on so many murder cases where evidence is murky and where there is no evidence of premeditation - which is generally agreed upon in law and public opinion to make a murder “worse”.
