Walt is awful, but Fring….I felt sympathetic towards him until I realized he never, ever breaks character. Walt at least goes through a period of feeling conflicted – all of Fring's displays of emotions seem calculated. He has already come to the conclusion that murdering people is a necessary evil and, if he's

Having an affair – even an affair with a criminal – because you feel alienated and scared of your husband seems understandable to me. Not good, but understandable. And Skylar's not always self-righteous about Walt's drug dealing – she's conflicted about it, and changes her position often over the course of the show.

At least we still have Better Call Saul.

Now I am just laughing thinking about an ancient version of Elizabeth Gilbert. Just going out to find herself by sacrificing some goats to Zeus.

I'll try this out. We Are Who We Are was effectively creepy and well acted, if a little over the top. This looks like it's in a similar vein

"Colbert booked way more politicians, writers, business people, and scientists than the two Jimmys, and fewer comedians, musicians, and athletes." When did writers become more serious artists than musicians or comedians? Why is booking JK Rowling, Hilary Mantel or Elizabeth Gilbert any more intellectual than booking

Oh, OK, I see the rest of your comments now. BTW I do have sympathy for Chuck…it seems like Jimmy has gotten away with a lot of things he shouldn't have, and on some level it makes sense that Chuck resents him.

Point taken, but I don't think I can let Chuck off the hook entirely. Skyler wants to support Walt, and will even do illegal things (launder money) for him; Chuck seems to enjoy tearing Jimmy down. Skyler was legitimately scared of Walt, while Chuck sees Jimmy as a threat to his pride. Plus Walt bullshit ≠ Jimmy

I am in touch with many people from Oberlin college (I graduated two years ago), the heart of millennial Bernie supporters. In my experience, Bernie enthusiasts who won't vote for Hillary no matter what do exist, but are the minority, and the general population of Berniens think they're crazy.

Only if we paint him orang(er) and put him in the bathtub.

(Seriously, look it up. Egyptian myth is so much more surreal, funny and randomly crude than Greek myth.)

Say what you want about the stars, but Egyptian mythology is a great premise. There's one myth where Horus defeats Set by jizzing in his salad.

Was this released on Dvd, or in theaters? I think I need to watch it.

In other words, perfect.

This episode was like a filmed version of an Alice Munro short story.

It is in the book…it's definitely one of the freakiest, most intense scenes. Especially because the book's tone is kind of fractured/stream of consciousness and switches perspectives a lot.

I love East of Eden, and I'd like to toss another, similar contender into the fray: Ken Kesey's Sometimes a Great Notion. "Quintessentially American" is difficult to define, but Sometimes a Great Notion is up there for me….lands somewhere between Infinite Jest (funny, everyone is self conscious, philosophical but not

…and you know what happened to him? He DIED.
