Gotta vote on my lunch break. I'm going to be very interested in how this works out. We'll finally see how accurate all the polling was, not to mention the ENORMOUS hype about how many people will actually turn out to vote. I wonder if this will be like those 'SHARK ATTACK!' stories a few years back - where it

@trstn: And that's why you're not a US citizen. :D

@zemeisterstuck: If Palin is a moron, then Obama is an idiot, based on experience.

Hmmmm... I was 76% similarity to Obama, but 73% similarity to McCain. I'm one of those damn UNDECIDEDS!!! No, not really, I'm voting McCain. :D While I agree more with Obama on education, I think the 'Trade and Economics' number was overinflated for him, and McCain kills him in terms of agreeing with my stance on

Maybe I'm naive, or maybe I'm an elitist, I don't know. But, who are the people in this country that actually need a commercial full of celebrities - who aren't even close to feeling any of the impact of what's going wrong around here - to get them to go out and vote? I'm of the mindset that if you are too lazy or

I'm a total computer dork, but I still think Obama is alienating the many, many older Americans who keep the computer support industry afloat by their complete and utter incompetence when it comes to using computers. The 'text message my running mate' was pretty stupid to. It might attract those that can't vote yet,

@skaorsk8: nail meets head. I'm in Chicago (burbs) and use Chase because their ATMs are EVERYWHERE. My checking account serves 1 purpose: access to my money. After that, I agree with waxigloo: the online savings account with the highest rate. Most of those online banks are FDIC insured and let you link to your

Based on my experiences with XBMC on my Xbox, it's probably best to let this homebrew simmer a bit before jumping in. Even today, alot of the scripts that I try to run on XBMC bomb out and force me to manually reboot the machine. It gets to be pretty annoying. Also, I'd like to see some more media center type

Honestly, I think the whole gas crisis hurts us more in the groceries we need and the airfare we can't afford than with the gas we need for our cars. I've been more alarmed with how much more everything else in life costs than I have been with gasoline.

I'm not sure if it's changed much lately, but it just needs to be easier to manage and install software. My issue with Linux has always been that I don't have the time to figure out what command line programs I need to run to unpack a file and then what command line program I need to run to execute the file, etc.

They seem to be on pace of setting the world record for servers crashing repeatedly. :D

hmmm...lifehacker effect:

Redbox. Free or $1.

I don't see this as things getting worse, I see it as things getting better. People who were living with too much excess are now tightening the reigns a little bit. The people that were driving huge SUVs and trucks and not fully utilizing them are now figuring out that they can get by with a Camry, or a Civic. It's

For many of the suggestions, the site is forgetting the whole notion that airfare is freakin' expensive these days and is a big part of why vacations aren't affordable. So, unless you live in Cali, Florida, Nevada, or a neighboring state, you are SOL. I live in Chicago. I want to hear about places I can drive to.

@chaschas: Even easier (and more energy efficient) - our sanity was saved when we used a suggestion to use the radio on static to get our baby to sleep. We've used it ever since. All I did was disconnect the antenna from the stereo in her room and voila! Peace at last.

1. Bought a lawnmower because I didn't have one yet (just bought our first single family home in January).

I think the best advice is to always have money automatically withdrawn. Whether it goes into a savings account or your 401k. Then live off the rest. And always be looking for ways to cut spending - whether it is going with a new cell company or getting rid of things like Netflix and using Redbox.
