It sounds like we grew up driving the same. I’m often surprised that I hadn’t been arrested and had my license suspended when driving like a complete hooligan through my first 10-ish years of driving.

The nice thing about Chicago highways... as long as you’re in the city of Chicago, there is only a tiny chance that there will be cops on the highway. And by that I mean I’ve seen cops on the Chicago highways maybe a handful of times in the past 23 years of driving.

Yeah, I suppose that the pre/post 9/11 conditions would be much different there in NY, I never really stopped to think about that. The run around Chicago I was trying to get was all highway, though, none of the surface roads like Afroduck had been on, so the police presence hasn’t changed much here.

I’ve got a curious side question - I live outside of Chicago and have traveled most places within about 1000 miles of here, minus the northeast coast. None of these places have had restrictions like the northwest (Washington, Oregon, northern California), so I’m curious if it is just those places. You see, around here…

How much is good publicity worth? Aside from the fact that they’re likely to get more people in the doors to do other work that might’ve been non-essential, they’re really not spending a lot of money on this recall.
