Depends on your use case. My friend has a commercial roofing business and his modern diesel trucks are all super problem prone. Most of his business is fairly local so mileage is less of a concern. He’s switching over to big gas engines. Cheaper maintenance, less quadruple digit priced failures.

Just speaking for myself, the maximum rating only matters in that I know the truck will feel more confident towing 50-75% of it than a smaller or older truck would be towing near it’s capacity. I’ll never need to tow 20,000 lb, but a truck that’s capable of that will be a better rig to tow 10,000 than an F150 that…

It takes time to dump fuel, and they’d need to dump a good deal of it to get down to landing weight if it was fueled for a long flight. Probably didn’t matter - you can either circle near the close airport or dump on the way to the farther one and land when you get there.
