Thats ignoring the fact that the buying public generally likes competition. Even if the iPhone was on all carriers, the Droid would still have been well received, because at the time, it was a very competent competitor.

Its pretty easy to speculate that Android would be no where if Apple was on every carrier, but the reality of it as shown in other countries begs to differ.
