Leibniz and Newton got really angry with each other (just as they did about most things) about the question of whether or not length can exist in the abstract; Leibniz thought Newtonian conceptions of the universe implied that there is no such thing as space itself, that space only has meaning in relation to objects.

Naw Back To December is about how she dumped Lautner and feels kind of bad about it.

There are a lot of parallels in imagery at least (dude hangs himself on a tree! As a sacrifice! Then he rises again!)- but there's a lot of debate as to how much Christianity tainted the conceptions we have of Norse Mythology, since it's mostly recorded by Monks and such.

A futurist website is, unfortunately, typically not a place where you should expect to find a politically correct discussion of a culture's religious or superstitious characteristics/ events.

TO ALL THE PEOPLE BELLOW SAYING MR. EDWARDS IS WRONG: Gandalf can be Jesus-like and be Odin-like. Gandalf can be Jesus-like while Frodo is Jesus-like as well. All of these things are true. Tolkien explicitly drew from Arthurian, Norse, and other Celtic legends while still incorporating Christian ideas. ALL OF YOU ARE

Since Tolkien hated strict metaphor but still loved the idea that myths can reflect other myths, there are lots of parallels in Lord of the Rings to Christianity, but no single one is entirely satisfying. So yeah, Frodo is a Christ figure, Gandalf is a Christ Figure, Aragorn is a Christ figure, etc.

It's still an open question. To any sensible person on the internet it's fair use but I believe there have been opposing court decisions on the subject.

I feel like, especially given the number of Christians in europe still today, and the increasing number of young Christians who think that there are more options than "WESTBOROUGH BAPTIST FTW" and "DAWKINS IS MY HOMEBOY" that this is more of a "silent majority" thing.

because luther was a popular dude

The general gist of her impression always comes pre-spoilers, and the idea that people don't like hearing others' opinions after seeing a movie is kind of silly.

"Video not found" makes me incredibly sad

Yeah dude, the real problems here are ignorance and apathy. Ignorance among the faithful about their church's history, and ignorance among the lower-level clergy about theology; apathy among the upper echelons for this occurring.

I can assure you that the theological footnote that is limbo has been under scrutiny and discussion for years if not centuries before Ratzinger ever took office; as Catholics have no sola scriptura mandate they have been continuously refining their theology since their inception. (If you were to pick any one pope

Wait when did the catholic church say hell didn't exist?

Nah at one point any Catholic would do as well, but eventually the pope was like "Aight guys, this is getting ridiculously, none of you are allowed to do this unless you get my special permission"

This is how Tolkien depicts God creating the universe in the Silmarillion.

or that Biden wouldn't use the term "negroes" publicly.

I always assumed that they hadn't naturally evolved that way, but that Cars took place in a very post post-apocalyptic universe. Robots rise up and murder all of us, then Cylon style try and become like us, but eventually they start to die off and only some of the weirder hybrids survive.
