I think what he's trying to get at here is that what they could have done was made the original MNC f2p and expand upon it with all of the "Super" content.

It's actually being developed for PC primarily and ported to Xbox and PS3. Valve always develops games for PC first with consoles as an afterthought.

I don't think that's the case here. EA wants title updates and DLC to be available through the individual games, and Steam doesn't allow that. DLC and title updates are supposed to be sent to Valve and they handle it within a few hours. EA just wants more control over their games while trying to make Valve look bad…

You know all the people behind Halo moved on to 343i? Halo will continue to be what it is and was. And XBL costs as much as one new game a year (at least here in the US). So if you can put up with buying one "extra game" a year, you're good.

Knowing Valve, there will be a "super closed" beta where they hand pick specific people to play and give direct feedback to them. Then there will be an open-limited beta to people that own CS:S and/or CS1.6 (maybe TF2? not likely, but plausible). Then a completely open beta up until about a month before release.
