Yeah, I'm excited to hear what Scott has to say about Millennium Actress. I own it on DVD, and it gets me every time I watch it. It's such an underrated movie. People always talk about showing Akira or Ghost in the Shell or something to people who don't "get" anime. I feel like those moves are just likely to confirm

"Don't you have a plan???"
"I'm just winging it!"

Amen on all the songs sounding the same. Tasha's right that the songs are by FAR the most annoying part of this movie. If they had been well-written, fun, catchy—you know "more like Dr. Horrible—I could have forgiven everything else.

I also saw it at midnight on Thursday and everyone seemed to really be into it.

"My favorite part of the trip was the couple's massage I got for myself." Poor Andy. Slightly less of a sad sack than Toby, but it's close.

Brad Pitt, doing his whole 12 Monkeys crazy bit.

You're definitely right about the collection of great moments, but I think that was also part of the problem: with all the time-skipping and suchlike, this season so far seems to be much more about individual moments than larger character (and plot) arcs. Hopefully, things will coalesce once the O6 and I6 get back

Yeah, the whole explanation for Jin being alive is pretty sketchy. Just take it as "the island really wants him back."

Anyone else see him on his tour for My Name is Bruce?
I saw him when he came to Madison (mmm, Sundance Theater . . .) and it was a pretty awesome time.
A creepy girl in the audience stood up to awkwardly give him a white rose and he just looked at his security guards and deadpanned "Seriously guys, keep her the fuck

I have astigmatism (in one eye) and I watched My Bloody Valentine with my contacts in. It looked great.

Yes, that was the perfect movie for 3D. You didn't mind when they pulled cheap stunts like whacking the audience in the head with a pickaxe because silly horror movies like that always pull stunts like that.

Chang lives on!

Hey, Paul!
This remix is kind of hypnotic. I could listen to it all day.
Before this, I didn't really understand Bale's work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Terminator Salvation where Bale's presence became more apparent. I think this rant was his undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility.

I'm a pretty big fan of A Tale of Two Sisters, even if it is annoyingly convoluted at times, in the way of many Asian horror movies. Still, it has some reeeally scary scenes and I'd take ambiguity over something boring and obvious any day.
Dammit, Hollywood! You've hurt me again! I'm just trying to pretend I haven't

That would make Dave Chang Andy.

Couldn't we distill this game to its essence
and simply have a rule that says "Take a shot every time the soundtrack goes WHOOOOSH and the camera zooms in on someone's eye before a flashback/foward"?

I noticed that just about everyone was wearing AC/DC t-shirts. Makes me wonder if everyone at AC/DC concerts wears Iron Maiden shirts.

I saw them play outside of Chicago
Show was awesome, but everyone in the crowd seemed to be a middle-aged fat dude or a middle-aged fat dude's teenage son. I couldn't decide if I was too young to be there, or too old. . .
Still, they played the entire Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and Satan made a guest appearance, so

I think I'm generally pretty good at differentiating movies from their papery sources. I love the Lord of the Rings movies, but they took a ton of liberties with the material.
The whole "but books are better than movies" bit is so overplayed. Of course they are. Does that mean we're going to stop going to movies?
