What rez? What tribe? The only time I've heard of school fires in the the Dakotas on reservations has been on Catholic Missionary Boarding Schools in the early 1900's.

Of course you could be referring to Trinity High School where the principal was charged with arson. Or maybe the Fargo Central High fire in 1966. Not

Not sure you're quite aware but there is not a clear black and white distinction between reservations and sovereign boundaries. There are no gates, or even that many signs. The Ojibwe rez I worked on was only 9% owned by either the tribe, or tribal members. That means that 91% was in the hands of non-tribal

Despite the trolling (which seems to be all that you do), I had already bought my house before I being offered the job. Besides, the opportunity to become the marketing director for an organization with international reach that made an effective and positive change in a community in need of assistance was something

It's surprising how misunderstood rural poverty is, especially on reservations (hence the blatant racism in this thread). I used to work for a non-profit in Northern Minnesota addressing this very issue. Every day I would commute the 75 miles to the rez, and as soon as I hit the border it felt like a different

when I first saw the commercial for these, I instantly thought of these guys.

Steve meant thatpoint ing out the uncertainty of some science has a tendency to cause people who desire certainty, to recoil and accuse you of scientific apostasy. It happens on both sides of the fence.

Sometimes I think the word "drone" is used just to sensationalize.

Do you mean the plot of "Titan A.E.?"

I think it's a way to bring the issue to the attention of people who are not aware of it. Or, an easy way to start getting involved for people who feel they have no actual ability to be do anything.

As far as fractal emergence through causal expansion, yeah in a way I'd agree. Evolution, synaptic activity, population growth, most of what seems to be the universe as it changes is, in a way, like a snow flake.

I'm surprised io9 readers wouldn't see that as well. perhaps they just didn't think before responding.

I've bee trying to articulate this exact point the last few days in my POM class.

I feel that this is self-awareness. A series of input -> responses. Passing the mirror test is the ability to respond to the input of response, or vice versa, input the response as an input.
