“What advantages does this war have over, say, an ethnic cleansing, which I could also afford?”

Wait. So the guy lacked basic qualifying experience that other QBs have had for literally years before they get to the NFL, but still had the best rookie season a quarterback has ever had ... and you figure that means he isn’t a fast football learner with a high IQ?

I think this is pretty spot-on and is something I’ve been saying to folks for years now. It really hit home to me in the closing weeks of the 2012 election during the peak of the “unskew the polls” phenomenon. The rubes were eating this shit up as usual, but then it became obvious that plenty of actual power players

Eh . . . kind of?

Eh, not a fan these days. His schtick lately has been to comb twitter for the worst takes and offer it as proof of a hysterical, monolithic response from American liberals on whatever is pissing him off that day. He also tweets things that are quickly disproven (Chelsea lifetime achievement award, that nonsense

Thank you for this.

No Sarah Kendzior mention here? For shame.

yea......blame “bernie and his bros”.....because they’re they ones who decided to leave wisconsin, michigan, and pennsylvania alone late in the election......they’re the ones who tried to market a plutocrat fembot as a “cool Hillary who dabs and is friends with beyonce”.....they’re the ones who made her use the

What?! I wasn’t a Bernie supporter, but Trump is not his fault. Millions of Americans being just fine with racism and sexism is what gave us Trump.

Well, Bernie did actually spend quite a bit of his life working for equal rights for women and minorities. It was my understanding that he was an independent mainly because he hates all the BS tied to working in a party and standing in line with party lines you disagree with.

Are you familiar with the Chinese Censorates? Perhaps one of the greatest examples of a government actually trying to protect itself from Bureaucracy.

Do you happen to know anything about the military dictatorships that ruled medieval Japan?

deposition of Romulus Augustulus in 376

Just finished listening to this episode a few hours; another great job. When you talked about the weak child emperors, it made me think of Dan Jones’ The War of the Roses, which I just finished, and how he seemed to argue that Henry VI’s regency and then extremely ineffectual rule helped cause the War of the Roses.

Ineffectual governing, a child-emperor, crises of legitimacy, corrupt courtiers, appeasement of rivals... you said this was history, right?

It’s one of my favorite shows. I am glad to see you enjoyed it. I was sorry it only lasted 2 seasons. Such a phenomenal cast. Before HBO had Cersei Lannister... there was Atia of the Julii.

I knew the Vandals had been around for a while, but damn! Fifth-century punk rock!

I don’t remember if I asked you this already on one of your earlier posts, but what did you think of Rome, the HBO show?
