the black girl actress ghetto

So the million dollar question remains: how exactly should a man who has been accused and exonerated of rape, while maintaining his innocence act in a way that is socially acceptable? I get that weird feelings about Nate Parker exist, and the fact the accuser maintained her story up until her suicide triggers rage

At a certain point, people that have committed crimes need to be able to move on with their lives. Did Nate Parker rape that girl, I say yes.

That’s exactly why I hate being in this shitty position. All the Black actors in the movie didn’t do anything wrong, and didn’t ask for this.

I think she’s an extremely self-aware professional, I’m sure she was in control of her performance. I’m more referring to the very strange position she finds herself in after learning about her colleagues’ pretty *complicated position relative to the subject matter, after the fact. It kind of shifts everything upside

Also, it’s Dwyane Wade, not Dwayne.

I thought this was very good an nuanced. I have a lot of empathy for her and Aja and the position they are both in right now. I think there are places in the letter that are going to get her cut up. Since she never outright said she is standing with people boycotting the film. But I also really don’t believe in

I feel that but then, you’re going to punish two black women for another man’s actions? Especially considering the black women who actually work in Hollywood work rarely and they can all be counted on one hand? I don’t know that I am comfortable with that either.

I don’t envy her having to reconcile all her feelings as a rape victim herself with the current role in this film, and the accusations against Parker. But she is so right, and I greatly admire her courage for speaking out about this situation.

Doesn’t say that. Just says he was exonerated and was kicked out of the class. Maybe he feels she should have been the one kicked out. Maybe they both should be kicked out...

Incorrect. If she changes her mind but fails to tell the male with whom she *initiated* sex, he would not be a rapist.

Are you downplaying the significance of public harassment? Of people creating a hostile environment?

I find the stark difference in the response both interesting and telling.

There a difference between hating them, trash talking them to your friends and actively working to sabotage or undermine their career. Mia Farrow did none of those things.

Yeah, the benefit largely rested upon the investigation clearing him. I didn’t think that necessarily settled his innocence but it gave his claims to such a bit more weight.

The comments so far are just so bizarre. If this actually happened like the plaintiff purports in the lawsuit, then the situation is fucked up and needs to be addressed. You have a culture where someone can shout an accusation on twitter and fuck up your life just like that. And even after being found innocent

I’m not really a fan of Donald New Black-doesn’t like black women, obsessed with asian and white girls Glover, but I’ll watch this especially as an Atlanta native.

The thing (for me) that’s so seductive about this whole cult isn’t necessarily the idea of having three hours a day to work out (though obviously that’s amazing) but rather the fact that working out for them is so, sort of, passive? Like they have assistants and a trainer and a cash flow that just ....make it happen

Leggings at school pickup say that they are not like poor working pantyhosed or business slacks wearing me; they are over all of that. They can just wear ponytails and leggings and bright sneakers.
