Right - the vette is not a sports car. More like an ultra hi-po GT. Want to see sports cars, kids? Look at the “big” Austin Healys of the late 50's to late ‘60s, or the Porsche 356 and early air -cooled 911's. Even the early Triumph TR6 and Miata. Light, tossable, and more fun than any of todays monster rockets.
Hang the fuck on. When the hell did 3600+ pounds become “relatively light-weight”? My 2004 GTO, considered a pig, was 3750lbs. As long as they keep a base model attainable I feel like they can grow the top end as much as they want. If anything the Z06 and ZR1 help keep Corvette as a whole more affordable.
I hate to say it, but $100k is the new $75k. Cars generally have gotten more expensive across the board, especially performance cars. I think a better way to look at Corvette prices is to compare them to their competitors of the time. For example:
While it is arguably awesome, I feel like the C8 has done away with what a Corvette was supposed to be. I know the base C8 is like $70k, but the fact that the Zo6, E-Ray and now the ZR1 are all over $100k and the ZR-1 will probably be over $150k, just seems anti-corvette to me.
