Yikes, that is so weird! Fellow Texan here, and I know we get a lot of shit, but hey, we’re certainly prepared for uninvited guests! (Also, Go Rangers! :P )

They really squandered the opportunity for some free babysitting, if you ask me.

LOL girl, that ghost is flirting with your man! Rude!

OH my God - I don’t know how you stayed there after figuring out what was happening. (Might not have had a choice, I know) Ugh - horrifying.

AHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO WAAAAYYYYYYYY

As soon as you described it I thought YUP - LION! It’s a little unusual for them to pick a territory so flush with humans, but perhaps it’s normal territory had also been urbanized and it was running out of options (lions have territories that span MILES, and because of rivalry, can’t really just pick up and move).

Ahhhh, scary! Glad he didn’t try harder to get inside. Ugh. Good dog!

LOL! My husband scared the shit out of me this way, too! I have a stall shower with a frosted glass door and I had just closed my eyes to rinse the shampoo out, when he apparently slipped into the bathroom silently. When I opened my eyes suddenly a dark shadowy figure was blotting the light of the door and a hand was

LOLOLOLOL

ACK! Wow - so happy you made it through that OK! I also live in the middle of nowhere with a similar neighbor situation (everyone is 10 acres apart) and typically never have the doors locked and now I want to go lock them! :/

So so glad you listened to your gut and were able to get out of there! And please don’t feel ashamed of “your choices” - you were doing what you could to get by, and someone terrible and scary and experienced in exploitation tried to take advantage of you at a vulnerable time. Best of luck; I hope things start looking

Ugh reason #1 I will never live without dogs of a certain size! My two blue heelers are both very sweet but would 100% tear someone up if they came in the house uninvited and they SOUND mean, which is what matters. They also help me when I read too many scary stories, because I can tell myself that if the dogs aren’t

Lol, my hometown was further into the swamp than that - nothing town East of Huntsville. Definitely some spooky shit in those woods, both human and not!

I also grew up in a tiny East Texas town, deep behind the pine curtain and am so curious to know where this is!

Oooooh, that is so tough, and sad! I can’t say I don’t get it. I feel like if something happened to my husband and I felt on some level I could still feel him there it’d be really, really hard to let him go, even knowing that it may (or may not be!) completely psychological!

Fun read, and also, kind of cool to think you might have a kitty grim reaper / personal rainbow bridge concierge service in that house.

I mean, I’d still be annoyed if something bruised my cherries!

My best good boy ever died last summer and I was pretty heartbroken, although he was nearly 16 and a larger dog, so it wasn’t unexpected. Even still, he’d been my bestie for all those years and I got him right when I started college, so he’d been through some shit with me and I missed him. I distinctly remember having

Fellow Texan - same thoughts! I don’t think it will happen this election, but all the last-ditch voter suppression tactics from Abbot and the RNC in the state are making it look like it’s way, way closer than they want it to be. If we weren’t gerrymandered to shit with so many suppression tactics in place already,

Aaaaaaaaah nooooooooooooooo :/
