I mean to be fair, just because you can’t see the dirt, doesn’t mean it’s clean =)

I love poking the A/C button on the screen in 100 degree weather only for nothing to happen, then 30 seconds later it turns on-off-on-off-on-off like 60 times, ‘cause it was backlogging all my button presses until it could get itself going.
Yes, I can’t stand that! The whole Mazda infotainment system boots up and provides warnings about distracted driving and all I want to do is change the radio station.
that’s exactly why I refuse to own a car with leather seats. Cold in the winter and scolding hot in the summer.
I will add “Piano Black” accents in high touch areas like cup holders, near the shifter or near any buttons. It works fine for accents or in areas that aren’t going to end up fingerprint magnets. Otherwise they are constantly smudged.
The other issue is waiting for things to “boot up”. My WRX touch screen has the A/C controls on it. So I get in my car in the middle of summer and try to crank the A/C, only for my finger jabbing to do nothing until the car is “ready”.
Yup, I love a good tan/camel as well, it makes the car so much more inviting. But yeah, check that box and your choices go to single digits.
I missed the survey, but
on the EV Design- why do all the car designers seem like their previous job was designing vape pens- wtf
Have to hard disagree with only one item on the list - blacked out cars. Some cars look really good when fully blacked out. Way better than when they have a bunch of obnoxious chrome accents.
Good comment and the lead picture was a Camry with about 4 different items on the list. Fake exhaust outlet? Check. Fake vents? Check. Absurd wing that offers no aero benefit especially in a grocery getter auto 4 cylinder sedan? Check. Floating roof? Check. Millions of aggro cuts lines and design elements that have…
Well done, everyone, fantastic list. A shame that anyone with any pull in the auto industry either won’t see it, or will ignore it completely.
But big macho trucks make me feel so masculine now that other people have rights. (snark)
Strong disagree with the blacked out cars comment. It is often the only way to hide all the terrible body cladding.
100% agree on the colors! Give me colors! i want reds, blues, greens, orange. Gray scale is soo boring to me.
Love this list. I agree with basically all of them. One item missing, which could be thrown in with the “overly complicated exterior designs”, is fake vents, grilles, diffusers, etc. Examples, Toyota Supra & Toyota Camry with their fake black plastic fillers that look like vents. Very tacky. Mercedes & BMW have…
The entire subaru community gave a gigantic collective “WTF?” When the 22 wrx was revealed. Granted.. we tend to do that for EVERY release of it, but really? Plastic cladding? Is this a fucking crosstrek?
I agree with drock87. The Golf has a TON of room in it for it’s footprint. And if you don’t need the back seats for anything, it almost feels like an old 90s short-bed Ranger with a camper on top with enough front seat leg room for a tall guy.
They want other politicians in Congress to play that game as well, and think of their future outside of Congress.
