at least it happened while charging! i was under the impression it was a random truck sitting in the lot. that would have been way different.

Yes, there is a massive difference in how to handle it, but my question is about how common are they.
A friend’s tuned up Alfa Romeo 90 caught fire, surprising no one. My grandfather’s Peugeot 403 caught on fire while on a road trip in England, full up with vacation luggage for the whole family. It was quickly put out and vacation was completed without incident, although he traded the Pug in for a Volvo Amazon later…
Go to any track day and you still have a 50:50 chance of seeing a Lambo on fire.
As others have pointed out by others, there have been new ICE cars with fire issues and associated recalls. Shoot, Ford has a recall on Mavericks, Corsairs and Escapes where 39 burned down in recent years. Doesn’t make the news like 1 Lightning fire.
Rural eastern Oregon, ICE fires at least twice a year reported in the local paper, and I live in a town of ~6K.
If I’ve got concerns over EVs, it’s not due to any higher likelihood of a vehicle generated fire, but always glad to know that a manufacturer is taking steps to avoid a self-inflicted failure.
Must mean that the U.S. has a huge reserve somewhere of Twinkies and Choco-Tacos. We have enough guns ‘n ammo.
“...3,300 tons of syrup valued at $18.7m were stolen from a storage facility in Quebec.
On an unrelated note, can anyone recommend a good home smelter than can get up to about 2K fahrenheit?
That’s what accounting is for. Trust me, the stuff we are working on is not messy at all compared to corporate books. It’s a matter of political will; if we as a nation decide that we want to tax wealth we can figure out the details and get it done.
I miss the stupid but awesome option.
OP here is an 2012 AWD suzuki SX4 for sale in Helena Montana for $8,000 with relatively low miles of 100k. what is cool about the SX4 is that it is practical but still sporty, relatively good ground clearance and is an absolute mountain goat with snow tires! 33mpg highway EPA with awd is actually great.
Seriously. Vague practicalities and utilities are the reason that everything is a crossover now
The Mirage is not worth $9k. $5k tops, and that’s for new ones too.
I’m with you.
“Handle the snow of a mountain town” translates to AWD to me.
At the risk of being mind-numbingly unimaginative, I have to think that the right answer is the newest / fewest km Honda Fit you can find. With winter tires ours is a trooper in the snow. It gets phenomenal fuel economy. It’s got the best size : space ratio of any car I’ve owned. And it’s as reliable as hell.
