Maybe it’s a generational thing (I’m Gen X) but when did people stop being able to take a joke? And I’m not talking about Malala, everyone on a message board is so full of themselves and love to get offended on someone else’s behalf.

Leo DiCaprio’s win is not that far in the rearview. Jaime Lee and Fraser join him in the group of winners whose Oscars immediately make you think of their better movies. Time honored tradition.
New cars simply weigh a lot. Its all of the additional side, front, rear and whatever impact resistant/crash and safety structural stuff added. I own a 1955 Mercury. People always say things like: “ Boy that thing is sure built like a tank... I bet it would demolish anything new”. But in reality it would crumple like…
I knew that the Academy could not resist voting for a Best Actor role of a guy with severe physical disabilities. It’s an Oscar tradition! Anyway, cynicism aside, it’s good to see Brendan Fraser get second wind in his career.
I’d take it with a manual in the small engine. Yeah, I’d like it with the big engine. Yeah, I’d like it even more in a WRX spec. But at the end of the day this is a (relatively) cheap hatchback and a stick would make it a fun drive around town. Once you get far from the base price, it becomes a harder value…
The lede image makes it looks like those ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ displays you used to see in malls and in front of high schools.
Hugh Grant got roped in to a Red Carpet interview he didn’t need to have. Big deal. Another interviewer asked Kate Hudson about her previous Oscar win...which she didn’t have. A far more notable moment of controversy.
NO “SOME” WINS, *ALL* WINS OR IT DOESN’T COUNT!
I think that, traditionally, usually a long-time actor who is well regarded in the Hollywood community will always win the Best Supporting Role Oscar if they have never won before. It’s very often a lifetime achievement award.
I think the strangled cries of Racism are going to be a harder sell this year, but keep fighting the good fight.
To be fair, “I’m so proud of my child for choosing life” DOES sound a lot better than “I’m so glad my daughter didn’t run off to the nearest big city to get it taken care of like most of her friends in high school did.”
That’s your take-away? That this is all about you?
I’m not sure whether this is poetry we need, but I’m sure it’s the only poetry Lauren Boebert deserves.
*chef’s kiss*
repub 1: Let me tell you about this woman I know. High school drop out. 4 kids. Lives off the government dollar. Spouse spent time in jail. One of her 4 just got his girlfriend pregnant at age 17.
And so the line continues, like dog shit dragged behind a renegade Roomba.
Choose irresponsibility!
I like how whenever they do this (and they do it plenty; recall Palin previously), they talk about how proud they are of their child for “choosing life” as if we’re going to suddenly forget that they don’t view it as a “choice” at all.
