And Kleenex didn’t invent the tissue, yet that’s probably what you call it.

I agree. Crash prevention tech is a fancy way of saying it will bail out distracted drivers. To me, there are two things that really matter: crash avoidance in the form of things like stopping distance and passive safety tech.

I’m a fan of using the deaths per million registered years metric over crash safety

Part 2 of this is actually offering real “orders” for the cars. I know that isn’t an issue for many OEMs who do offer special orders, but I see Honda/Acura mentioned here, who I believe follows the Toyota method of allocating cars to dealers, so that consumers have to cross their fingers that something they like comes

The US’s third world dealership system will fight tooth and nail against any sort of progress. There’s no such thing as mark-up where I am, RRP is as high as the price goes and it’s how it should be. Direct sales are the far superior future.

Rather than adapting, you should expect the dealer associations that have enough clout to get legislation passed in their states to make some or all of these changes illegal.

Their macroeconomic thesis: “Don’t you know the people who make the LEAST are taking the MOST from you, the middle class?”

I worked in book publishing and became so very jaded due to the overall lack of professional respect and livable wages.

“Racially insensitive.” No, that is a hell of a lot more than insensitive, that’s the whole kit and caboodle of straight up fuck-you level racism.

The amount of energy and effort of some people to go to in order to be a flaming asshole never ceases to amaze me. Furthermore, the name of this person should be released to the public so that nobody will ever hire that shithead

Can confirm, as an English-degree holder who now works in healthcare. I think another popular vague-arts degree was Communications.

wrx + altimax arctics = hilarity in the midwest :)

What? ENGLISH is the major for people who can’t decide on a major or don’t have a clue what they want to do. WTF is liberal studies?

Now playing

If yo uhave seen this gem, you’ll understand RangRover drivers.

I lived in South lake Tahoe for 14 years. The road is Keller lane. Aka Killer Keller. It is below Heavenly Valley ski areas California main lodge. The same thing happened to me one winter. I was in my old Isuzu trooper traveling up Keller lane when a Chevy suburban came sliding out of control, backwards downhill and

woulda never happened if he’d just sprung for the optional Thule rooftop cargo-box with optional side-mounted canoe rack. - this is the kinda shit that can happen when you half-ass it.

Based on their scoring logic I don’t think it’s possible for a car that scores high on active safety tech to also score poor on passive safety. On that note, I don’t think there’s a single new car that scores poor on passive safety - maybe marginal on 1 specific crash test at worse. We’ll reach a point very soon where

I can’t forgive people going to Tahoe for not being prepared when everyone knew the storm was coming. I can forgive the people around the lower elevations for being unprepared because it never snows in the Oakland hills or some of these other lower areas. It’s been crazy around here.

I may not be an expert, but I know I deserve more of it damnit!

Whoops... well I ACTUALLY meant “more Volvos” on it.

Being genX I came into a market that was destroyed. Yeah I blame the hippie war dodging everything handed to them on a silver spoon epic fail of a generation boomers. Best thing you can do is die.
