Fat is not the enemy.

Added sugar is part of the problem, but also concentrated sugar like fruit juice. Fruit has sugar, but if you eat the whole fruit you're unlikely to over do it. But if you drink apple juice, you're probably eating 3-4 apples worth of sugar.

Like most vegetable oils, it is high in saturated fat (about the same fat content as butter) and can raise bad cholesterol. So on the spectrum, palm oil is better than partially hydrogenated oils but not nearly as healthy as olive oil. Mostly, in the case of peanut butter, it’s just not necessary. It is added to serve

When I’m eating “healthy”, I tend to end up with too much fat in my diet... I like nuts, hummus, edamame, pesto... I just can’t seem to avoid it.

Except there’s a shit ton of research going on that those diseases we supposedly get from saturated fat are actually more correlated to sugar consumption.

In defense of the science people - to understand the effect of a given thing, you have to be able to measure both input and output. This is relatively easy when you’re working with animals in a controlled lab, and really, really fucking hard when you’re talking about people and what they eat. This is because people

I subscribe to Julia Child’s philosophy of everything in moderation, including moderation.

I agree with the genetic component, but not just the Inuit. Also the Masai, and many other cultures: even European ones. Whenever I travel abroad, I lose a ton of weight, and the food often is quite fat-dominant. It is also the diet given to epileptic children to prevent seizures. Fat really does nourish the brain.

Yeah; I don’t consume any added sugar (not because I am so disciplined but because my blood sugar levels began to elevate and it scared me), though I do admit to a sourdough bread adoration that must be indulged semi-regularly.

Refugee center nearby, victims said it was “foreign men”. Clearly not all refugees are guilty but no point denying the problem some are bringing. There is a huge spike in rapes from refugees reported in last 12 months in Sweden

Sugar and flour are the devil. Avoid refined whites. Kind of a good rule in general, actually.

It depends on what you eat with it. Those are fine within moderation. Try to avoid extra sugar and processed foods. Go for a walk or run every once in a while. You’ll be fine.

There was just an article on i09 saying that butter turned out to be not so bad for you. The stats on salt aren’t so clear either. Nutritional science is messed up.

Haven’t we gotten over the fat thing, yet? (Not directed to you, Smarktalk).
There are entire cultures that live mostly on fat. Fat is not the enemy.

Popcorn is fine. Popcorn covered in salt and butter, not fine.

In fairness, it seems that foods will either kill you or save your life at random times: eggs, butter, wine, chocolate, etc.

Since the attackers are reported to be Muslim refugees (not reported above because, well, Gawker) perhaps he’s refering to immigration laws.

Yeah I’m on a total Chrissy Teigen over load. Go away for awhile, enjoy your kid and stop responding to every damn twitter troll.

I am Team Nobody here. People are insufferable on both sides. People, this woman just had a baby, leave her alone. But also, shut up, Chrissy, you DO care what people say. That’s why you’re posting pictures of your midriff a month after your daughter was born with the excuse caption “mother’s day brunch” BS.
